An increasing number of people are asking Lorraine to paint their beloved dog in fancy dress! This style of painting breaks away from traditional ideas, and shows each pet in a highly personalised and eye-catching fashion.

Here are some of the popular search terms people use:

  • Pet Portraits as Royalty
  • Pet Portraits Dressed up
  • Pet Portraits in Costume
    Pet Portraits in Clothes
  • Pet Portraits in Uniform
  • Pet Portraits Jedi
  • Pet Portraits Queen
  • Pet Portraits King
  • Pet Portraits Renaissance
  • Pet Portraits As Viking
  • Pet Portraits Edwardian Style
  • Pet Portraits As Victorian

… and that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

There is a huge appetite for people to have their pets portrayed in particular styles, and wearing clothing from specific genres.

So, while making sure that the authenticity of the clothing can be clearly enjoyed, we must remember that these lovely animals are not with us for ever. In years to come, you’ll want to look at your painting and remember those facial expressions and the happiness of a wagging tail.

While painting your faithful canine friend in an outfit that reflects a desired effect, it’s important that the character of your dog shines through.

In a way, we are creating a parody, and a completely unnatural situation, as your dog has almost certainly never worn clothes in real life.
While we’re looking to have some fun and games with reality, perhaps it’s also a good idea to choose an outfit that is compatible with the breed and appearance of your dog.

When the paint is dry, and the pencils are back in their box, you will need to find a spot on a wall to place the artwork, where it can be seen and enjoyed. Although, some art lovers say that moving paintings around your home, can be a good way to get a fresh view and enjoy them more.

You will want to glance at your painting and smile with contentment, in the knowledge that if your dog could speak, you would receive confirmation that all was well.

In the absence of verbal acknowledgement, maybe the wag of a tail will do!

Your Pet Portrait Rescues Another Pet https://lorrainehughes-art.com/your-pet-portrait-rescues-another-pet/ https://lorrainehughes-art.com/your-pet-portrait-rescues-another-pet/#respond Thu, 02 Dec 2021 20:59:37 +0000 https://lorrainehughes-art.com/?p=486

When you order a painting or drawing of your pet from Lorraine, she will donate 15% of the purchase price in your name, to support the animal charity of your choice.

This is a win-win for you and the animal rescue centre you support. You and your family will turn a moment in the life of your pet, into a memory that will live for ever.

There are many animal charities out there, and they all do good work. But so many of them struggle for funds to keep on doing their good work.

The money donated in your name will go towards food, veterinary fees, and all the many incidental costs required to keep animals happy and healthy, until they are claimed by a loving new owner. This is the point where a rescue dog starts to reap the benefits of a new life, assisted by your donation.

Animal charities do amazing work. They are often run by volunteers, and the costs of maintaining premises, food, and essential veterinary care for animals who may have come from difficult circumstances, can be high.

How will my artwork look?

Firstly, make contact with Lorraine through the contact form on this website. You can ask for information, discuss whether you’d like a painting or a drawing, and get a quote.

This time-lapse video shows an oil painting of “Luna” – a beautiful dog, and the finished artwork is a lasting memory of a loving family member…

How you can get things moving…

You should take a number of clear digital photos of your pet will either a camera or your phone. Close-ups are good, your pet looking directly into the camera will be an excellent  choice, so the character of your pet can shine through into the artwork.

Perhaps you might take images in a number of different poses. This will help Lorraine to bring out the character of your smallest family member!

What else should I do?

What size would you like your artwork to be? Does it need to fit on a wall where there is a size restriction, or do you have ample space to display the finished work.

Are you thinking in terms of a painting or a drawing? If it drawing, would you prefer graphite pencil, or coloured pencil?

If you decide a painting is right for you, this can be done in oils or acrylic paint. Also, the final piece could be on artwork paper or canvas.

All of these things you can discuss with Lorraine, and she will help you to arrive at the best style that will give you a lasting memory

Don’t forget to let Lorraine know which animal charity, or rescue centre you would like to receive the donation of 15% of the purchase price.
